At 9,000 feet in the high alpine terrain of Park County, Colorado, this off-grid cabin was designed as both a retreat and a launch point - designed for a young family drawn to wilderness, adventure, and simplicity.
Set against sweeping mountain panoramas, the cabin is carefully positioned to frame the two most commanding views on the site, while sheltering itself from the harshest alpine winds.
Every decision in the design was driven by purpose: a modest, tightly insulated footprint that stays warm through deep winters with just a small wood-burning stove; an indoor-outdoor flow that effectively doubles the functional living space during the warmer months. Energy resilience, compact luxury, and the rhythm of the seasons shape the way the cabin is used - and the way it feels.
More than a getaway, this project reflects a way of living: connected to place, tuned to climate, and grounded in the essentials.
