This project reimagines the lower level of a 1974 home nestled in the wooded terrain of Bloomington, Indiana, transforming it into a space designed for both now and what’s next.

The design creates a flexible apartment and gathering space: a place for guests, for celebrations, for weekly board game nights, aand eventually, perhaps, for family to stay long-term.

Working alongside Loren Wood Builders and the broader project team, Solstice led the design of a new basement apartment, wet bar, and game room, tailored to the natural light, flow, and landscape connections that already shape the home. Careful attention was given to scale, circulation, and long-term adaptability - aligning everyday living with larger possibilities, like multi-generational living or future short-term rental use.

At its core, this project is about connection: between generations, between friends, and between the home and its wooded surroundings.

The project is under construction, beginning with the exterior updates and soon moving into the basement remodel.
