Set against the backdrop of Mount Olympus, this 1970s split-level home in Holladay was ready for a new life. One that could open to the views, the light, and the land around it.

What began as a meticulous remodel quickly became a full reimagining, shaped by discovery and opportunity.

Unforeseen conditions during demolition led to most of the original structure being replaced, unlocking the chance to raise low ceilings and dramatically improve energy performance through enhanced air sealing and insulation. Exposed steel beams, layered materials, and thoughtful detailing bring rhythm and restraint to the expanded spaces.

Solstice worked closely with the owner and contractor from the start, guiding a design that would replace the compact, obtrusive stair with a new circulation core, functional, flowing, and anchored by views at every level. A new porch, garden-level great room, and a roof deck positioned to capture arguably one of the best views of the Wasatch, reshaped the home’s relationship to its site.

This project is more than just a remodel. It’s about honoring the original spirit of the house while giving it room to breathe, connect, and endure for generations to come.
